A life of greatness is a never ending pursuit

A life of greatness is a never ending pursuit

“The moment that you rest, thinking that you have attained the level you desire, a part of your mind enters a phase of decay. You lose your hard-earned creativity and others begin to sense it. This is a power and intelligence that must be continually renewed or it will die” (Robert Greene).

Robert Greene stated it best in the fifth book he’s written “Mastery.” I’m currently reading it, and like usual, I’m stopping frequently completely enthralled by various phrases and quotes — that particular one resonated with me deeply. We all want to be great in life, that’s not disagreeable, but we have to put in the work to attain that greatness perpetually.

There can never be a dull moment, no “fluff,” as the beast David Goggins once said in a podcast. Meaning, as we’re on our journeys to our versions of greatness, we need to utilize time to our advantage. If we’re standing in line, on a work break, or traveling, we could be doing SOMETHING that’ll enrich our lives. For me, I carry a book - prepared for any dull moment that may arise. If I forget, I can always read an article on my phone.

There’s a lot of fluff in our lives that we may not even realize. It is about becoming conscious enough to realize that and combat the fluff. We all get comfortable once we think we’ve reached a certain level in our lives - complacency sets in, and that is deadly. When we reach our goals, we should think, “what’s next.” It’s the most valuable thing we can do for ourselves - to give ourselves constant challenges when we feel “it” is over.

Never stop going after what's important to you - stay in the fight.

All love,

-Tremayne Sullivan
